I actually fancied cleaning my studio today. It wasn’t an “Oh bother, I can’t find the desk… I better do a bit of cleaning” type of thing either. It was more of a “Today is the day I organize my space” type of feeling.
I’ve unpacked the few remaining boxes that were sitting in the wardrobe. This event hasn’t happened since…. actually I think this is the first time everything has been out of their moving boxes (that’s if you don’t count the dozens of boxes in storage at mum’s house). I’ve designated space to each type of interest. I’ve organized my books. I’ve even brushed the floor. Of course, you can’t actually see the bed for the the stuff piled on it, but at least I’m making progress.
I’m planning to post a few photos once I’ve finished organizing. Hopefully I won’t mess it up before I can pull out my camera. ;)
I just received my email notification of this event, and thought I’d pass it on in. The Cyberstampers convention starts tonight at 10pm Eastern Standard Time (that’s 3am GMT) and runs through until Wednesday (February 1st). There are classes, socials and special offers at the various vendors the whole week, so if you are into stamping, you may wish to check this out.
The link to the Cyberstampers convention will not be active until it officially starts this evening, but do check it out if you have the chance.
A few weeks ago, my parents asked me to send them an online Christmas wishlist. I wished for scrap supplies, of course! :)
Fast forward a couple weeks… Wednesday night, my Joey comes home from work with a box in tow. I thought, “Wow! My DT package has arrived already! I wasn’t expecting it until the new year!”, but Joey corrected me, and told me that the pizza box was not from America, but from my favourite online scrap shop in the UK. My Christmas gifts. My new sets of ‘lil Davis foam stamps. :)
So here I am, with a bonus day off work (which I was not expecting), and I’m going to merrily scrap the day away. With my new foam stamps sitting under the tree. Which I’m not allows to use until Christmas day. Torture. I feel like a kid again, counting down the seconds to Christmas day when I can play with my new toys.
So, Mum and Dad, I got the box in time for Christmas! Thank you so much!!!
And to my darling husband, I think I hear some foam stamps under the tree wanting to be played with. They are lonely and want to mingle with my other scrap supplies. Especially the paint and paper! ;)
Well? Did you??
I admit it. I did. Several, in fact. Although the only one I’m really all that concerned about is my page count. In 2004, I managed to scrap 172 pages (including my altered book spreads). I figured it wouldn’t be that hard to do an extra 28 pages, and break the 200 page mark.
Well, here we are. 16 days left until the start of the new year, and four of those days I’ll be in London, which brings me down to 12 possible scrapping days, and I’ve only managed a meer 188 pages. 12 pages. 12 days. Think I can do it??
It’s official. We are moved. In fact, we are mostly unpacked as well. This is always the exciting part, isn’t it?? Getting things all sorted, just as you want them, and the 1,000 trips to the local DIY to get silly little things you didn’t realize you’d need.
Well, I can definately say that I’m glad I did some organization work to my scraproom before moving. It made unpacking so much easier. Just slide everything into place on the shelving unit and presto—instant scraproom. Well, almost. I still have a small pile ‘to sort’ making itself comfortable on the spare bed. All in due time.
It’s been well over a week since I’ve scrapped, and today I’m going to spend the whole day working on layouts. Hopefully I’ll remember to photograph some of them before the sun goes down so I can share them. On the agenda today—I’ve got a few DT projects to finish up, and then on to other projects and layouts.
Sounds like the perfect day. :)
I’ve taken a little break from it all. A short holiday. A little time to myself. And unfortunately, a little slump in my scrapping. It seems to always happen when I return from holiday. It takes me at least a week, if not more, to get back into the cyber world. Miraculously I usually want to start scrapping again as soon as my prints come back from the lab. Go figure.
My break is over, some of the photos are in from the lab, and I’m excited to get back to doing what I love to do. Beyond editing photos, during my slump I also cleaned my scraproom, and although there are a few bits left to organize, I’m very excited to be working in my new and clean environment. Let’s just hope I can keep it this way. I’m trying out a few new systems for my paper storage and other tidbits. I’ll share some of these methods once I’ve test-driven them a bit more.
But today, I want to scrap. I was organizing my patterened paper this morning and felt inspired to use up some of my stash. It’s something that doesn’t happen all that often, so I think I better ride with it. Happy scrapping! :)
